What is La Escuelita?
La Escuelita is an after school mentoring program that aims to promote higher education, social awareness, and leadership development in order to empower students to become leaders in their communities. As part of the program, we provide workshops, offer a college tour, and host a parent banquet. To encourage students to pursue higher education, we provide workshops on financial aid and A-G requirements. During the program, students will be able to visit a Community College, a California State University and a University of California campus. We welcome students from all grade levels and backgrounds highly encourage them to attend the college tour along with their parents. The college tour is aimed to widen the scope and vision of students when considering their options after college. The Parent Banquet in which students are encouraged to invite a parent, guardian, or any person whom they feel has helped them reach their potential during their educational journey. The banquet is designed for students to showcase what they have learned through a artistic art form. Students have the options, but are not limited to the following forms of presentations: paintings, spoken word, poems, and other types of performances. They will able to practice their public speaking skills in front of all attendees alongside their mentors for moral support.
