What is youth empowerment Conference?
Youth Empowerment Conference (YEC), formerly known as the Resistance Youth Conference (RYC), is an all day conference aimed at providing students with informational workshops on college admissions, Chicanx/Latinx history, and aimed at helping youth enter higher education. We provide workshops designed to give students a better understanding of A-G requirements and the financial aid process; along with other culturally relevant and thought provoking workshops.
During the event students can expect to be exposed to cultural entertainment, resources available at the university, and an insight as to what life at the University of California, Irvine might look like from the perspective of Chicanx/Latinx/first generation students and anyone in between, as well as an optional campus tour held at the end of the conference.
This year, the Youth Empowerment Conference will take place on Saturday, February 23rd, 2019! You can check more updates on our Facebook event page here.
